This weeks assignment from Dewey is:
"1. Think about the books that you and people in your life love. It’s best to use more obscure books, because we’ve all heard plenty about the more popular ones.
2. Come up with categories, based on relationship, personality, or whatever else you like. I think this is easier to do once you have your books in mind; you can then just assign categories to those books.
3. Post your own gift giving guide! Add short blurbs about the books, just enough so that your readers can determine if it’d be a good gift for people on their list. Don’t forget to come back and sign Mr Linky."
For the Friend with the great sense of humor:
I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies) by Laurie Notaro Laurie Notaro reminds me of the late Erma Bombeck- if Erma had been childless, neurotic and anti-social. This collection of essays will cause you to laugh out loud until someone asks what in the world you are reading.
For the Elderly Family Member who enjoys romances but you would feel "ookey" giving them something with S E X in it:
Mother Road by Dorothy Garlock This is a sweet romance that takes place during the Depression and is a great page turner without getting into the bodice-ripping that might embarrass anyone.
For the "Literary Reader" who devours the written word and would Never Read A Romance:
Silk by Alessandro Baricco Ha, you will "trick" them with this little gem of a love story that is so lyrically written that each and every word is precisely perfect. (and even if I am off base, at 65 pages they shouldn't be angry that you wasted too much of their time)
For a Man in your life that you know reads fiction but aren't really sure What Kind but have a pretty good idea he would prefer a male protagonist:
The Ha-Ha by Dave King This story is about a man named Howard who suffered a war injury that left him with little ability to communicate so he has turned himself into a recluse. That is until his old high school crush drops a 9 year old boy into his life and forces Howard to start learning to live in the world again. Not too sappy but moving enough to get the reader to care for the characters.

Never heard of Mother Road but I do know someone who would like it!
Interesting list with books/authors I have not previously hear about. I specially want to read "I love everybody", sounds like a fun read. Thanks for posting :-)
I think my mother would like Mother Road ... for myself, I'd pick I Love Everybody _ it sounds great.
Mother Road and Silk, I will heck out for myself!
Here is my WG #25 post
Love your categories! I think The Ha-Ha looks really interesting, I may need to look for that one for me to read, even though I totally don't fit your category.
Hi!
Haven't read any of your books you listed. A couple of them I have put on my TBR list. Thanks for stopping by my place. Take Care!!
Sherrie
Hi, there. Many thanks for recommending my book. In fact, word of mouth has been a huge factor in The Ha-Ha's success, and I really appreciate it.
All best to you for the holidays,
DK
