I did OK last year on some challenges. My worst problem was posting reviews on everything I read and linking back to the challenge site. I did finish over 100+ books for the 100+ Reading Challenge. I finished the Chunkster Challenge and the Southern Reading Challenge. I got about 1/2 of the Suspense & Thriller Challenge finished. Where I failed miserabley was the TBR challenge and the TL;DR Challenge. It doesn't surprise me on those two because I am terrible about reading my own TBR pile when I am constantly going to the library and picking up new books.
For 2009 I have found a few challenges that fit my reading style so I have high hopes for them. I have only read a few books so far and I haven't posted my progress yet. I will be working on this area through-out the months.

MzB is hosting a 2009 Read-Your-Own-Books Challenge- This is another go for me to read some of my books but this challenge lets me pick my own number I want to go for and I don't have to list the ones I read in advance so I will go conservative on this one and have decided on a goal of 5 books. Not a lot I know but if I read more it will be a bonus and still beat this years dismal performance. If you want to sign up the link is here.

Hopefully this will allow me to join a few quick little challenges through the year if something comes up, like the RIP Challenge next Halloween.

Not sure yet which challenges I'll join. I'm so far not doing so hot on the ones I joined this year!
Lenore- I didn't do well this year either! I am keeping it simple next year :D
I totally understand how you feel! I did horribly on the TBR challenge. I don't think I even finished one book on my own shelf. I basically gave up on most of my challenges this year. I did finish the R.I.P. and Once upon a time challenges though.
On your question about children's books: I love reading the books of Oliver Jeffers, Holly Hobbie, Arnold Lobel, old classics like The Secret Garden, fairy tales, and almost any picture book. I subscribe to The Horn Book magazine which tells you about new children's books coming out.
I'm considering joining the Read-Your-Own-Books Challenge since I have SO many unread books that keep getting pushed farther onto the shelves. I did join the other two though.
I know that I am taking my sweet time with the welcome wagon. You know me, Ms. Day Late and a Dollar Short...lol! So glad you are joining these two.
I'm a new blogger and was wondering which challenges to take on. I like the looks of the 9 for 09. It'll take a little thought to pick out my titles, but that'll be part of the fun! Good luck with your challenges!

Dang girl, you are all about the challenges - go you!
I'm also doing J. Kaye's library challenge and thinking about adding the YA since I too love that genre. There's gonna be a lot of overlap though, which might be boring for my blog readers. Ah well, one challenge at a time for me then!
